Cognitive Dissonance / Fucked For Life TOUR 09'
On the 2nd of July, 2009 my dear friends Cognitive Dissonance and I set out for an epic adventure of driving, exploring new cities, playing shows, and partying. Much anticipation and excitement had been built up, as we all looked forward to seeing old friends, and making new ones.
After driving to Chicago, we went to our friend Kano's house and had delicious tortillas with fresh cactus, rice, and beans. After filling our bellies we wandered around and came across 'Mount Happy'. There was a show going on, but we all got in for free because the lady working the door said "You guys are Cognitive Dissonance! You played my birthday party, come on in!" And we did just that.
Waking up bright and early, ready to drive to Cincinnati for the tour kick off in super good spirits, suddenly we're trapped in a nightmare.
Will was driving at this point, we were in downtown Chicago. Out of no where a speeding mini-van comes CRASHING into the front, left side. Two seconds sooner, and Will would have been crushed.
FUCK. GODAMNIT. WHY!!!!!!!?
Impending doom. The front wheel is completely impaled. It won't drive. We're fucked.
I started walking to the nearest gas station, and to my LUCK and surprise, a guy in a tow truck comes and asks if I need the car picked up. Excited, we get it taken care of.
It was Friday. About 12 in the afternoon. The mechanics weren't sure if they could get the parts we needed. They are closed on weekends. Feeling miserable, we waited.
Hey guys! I got us a ride to Veggie Bite!
The phone guy at the mechanic, Andrew, drove us to the best vegan fast food restaurant, ever.
Vegan Italian beef melt.
We decided to explore Chicago on our 3 mile walk back to the mechanic. We had much time to kill, as well.
Several hours later we went back to the mechanic, and unfortunately they had not found the parts yet.
So we took naps on concrete.
After waiting, and disturbed phone calls to Cincinnati not sure if we'll be able to meet them for tour, next thing you know we're back on the road!
Sand which mastery.
Unfortunately, it was too late to play when we arrived in Cincinnati, however upon arrival instant drunken fun and dance party madness occurred!

So, we wake up, I'm halfway across town, it's raining...
Finally get back to the house and meet up with Cog dis and Fucked For Life...
after several minutes on the road, WE ARE AT AN AUTO STORE, because Fucked For Life's van is DEAD!
DAMNIT!
Before you know it it's the 4th of July, and we're in Lima, Ohio.
Played at the LEATHERSHOP. They made us epic vegan pasta pre-show. Met some rad people! In particular, fellow PE board member, John, who makes brilliant chain mail, and I picked up 2 pieces of jewelery from him.

July 5th! Pittsburgh, PA. @ Mr. Roboto Project. Was SUPER excited to hang out with fellow PE board member 'Post Reginament'. Not to mention see one of my best friends, TRAVIS, who recently moved from Minneapolis to Philadelphia. Travis was the lead vocalist for Cognitive Dissonance, but now they are a 3 piece since he moved. HOWEVER, Travis sang again for this show!

After the show we went to Regina's house. Down the street we all walked to a park and drank til' the early morning hours.
This was one of the funnest nights, for sure. This park was on top of an epic hill that over looked the entire city of Pittsburgh. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

July 6th. Lansing Michigan.
Played at a record store. Definitely scored some rare records I've been seeking including Skeeter Davis, Little Richard, Van Morrison, Patsy Cline, and Wanda Jackson. EPIC! There were thousands and thousands of records scattered EVERYWHERE.
Lansing was a pretty town.

Party. I got to be punk DJ. Played some classics, MINOR THREAT, POISON IDEA, NEGATIVE APPROACH... Everyone singing along having a brilliant time.
July 7th.
We get to Fort Wayne, Indiana VERY early. Made some lunch in a WASTELAND!
Waiting around, reading zines:
Walked around the town for miles. Discovered a CO-OP! Had my first soy mocha all tour. LOVE! Went to an old book store and read.
We walked around forever. Went to a military store, found a liquor store, and definitely got a good feel for the town.
Got back to the Harrison house and hung out.
They made us AMAZING curry... It was SO good!
It was a rad house.

So, for me personally, the whole point of going to Fort Wayne, was to MAKE A FORT!
No one was into it.
But these guys went in it!

What's the purpose of an anvil? We looked under it to see if any dead Looney Tunes were beneath.

Ate at a vegan Mexican restaurant. SO GOOD!

July 10th... BACK HOME!

So, we get to town at 3:45, and I'm scheduled to work at 5. MADNESS.
Worked, then went to the Rathole in time for FUCKED FOR LIFE:
There was a billion people there, glad Minneapolis showed fucked for life a good time!
Woke up early the next day and went to the Triple rock for breakfast. Met up with Fucked For Life, ...now friends for life, and sent them off.
