My co-host Bobby and I talked about the death penalty and the prison system, as there was the 10th Annual March for Abolition on the steps of the Texas capitol the Saturday before. Mainly, we touched on the case of Reginald Blanton who was executed the day after this show was broadcasted. Reggie was convicted by an all-white jury of a murder which he did not commit. His public "defendant" inadequately defended him and never responded to his push for an appeal. There is a great article on his case written by Carter Pagel. We aired a a few clips from the rally, including the emotional speech his mother delivered.
